A Shandaar Diwali Bash In Leeds

The star-packed team of Shandaar is back in Mumbai from more than month-long schedule in Leeds and Poland. But what no one knows is that the producers and director of Shandaar, the team of Phantom Films and Vikas Bahl threw a bash on Diwali for the crew after work in Leeds where everyone was stationed.

There was an array of Indian and European food items on the menu. The crew had no access to any other music, except the six songs from Shandaar. So, those were the only songs playing on loop throughout the party.

A production hand informs, “We’re a team of girls, who are all under 25 and learning from Vikas. He always tries to make his artistes comfortable and in Leeds, we were all missing our families. So, he just decided to have a party on Diwali. We had fun organising it.”

A love story, the film revolves around a big fat destination wedding dealing with several issues that go into making a marriage successful. The cast includes over 40 big and small actors, who form the families and friends of the groom and bride. Visually, the film is a delight, claims the source from the unit, adding that Alia and Shahid also shot some crucial scenes in Poland.

Apart from that, Karan Johar joined the cast for five days. He has a cameo in the film, where he plays himself, and conducts a Koffee With Karan chat show with the characters played by Alia and Shahid, in the middle of the wedding preparations. It was a fun shoot and extremely funny. Most of the cast was present for the shoot as spectators in the scene, says our source, adding, We also had a cooking session with our on-location cooks. The actors jumped in to cook Sindhi, Punjabi and various other food items for the rest of the unit on days they wanted to. Though it was cold as hell in Leeds and Poland, it was one of the warmest shooting schedules, thanks to the party and a friendly cast.
